BE Friended

For those “Beach Goers”

Euskadi is a privileged place. Its coast is dotted with beautiful beaches, some urban like La Concha in Donostia or smaller fishing villages like Zumaia. Others, however, are much more wild and hidden. The favourite spots of sun worshippers.

Bosque de Oma (an “art” walk, in nature)

Only a few minutes from the coast the landscape changes. Forests, small villages and hamlets. Amazing walks and treks through woods and valleys, like that of Oma, in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve where art and nature come together via the work of our sculptor Agustín Ibarrola. Without doubt one of the magic places we have hidden away.

Fiesta, fiesta

Who says Euskadi is all peace and quiet? Some of the most raucous, lively, exciting and friendly fiestas you could ever imagine happen right here throughout the summer and autumn, occasionally in spring and winter too. Bilbao, Vitoria and Donostia have their annual shindigs. However, the party doesn’t stop in the city. Smaller towns and villages across Euskadi push the boat out when it comes to celebrating. Cooking competitions, wine fights, rowing races, exhibitions of strength skill and dexterity. Fireworks, fancy dress, and some strange and ancient practices you have to see to believe, all helped along with music, food and wine.

Fiestas of San Fermín in Pamplona

From 6th till 14th July this peaceful and historic city literally explodes in happiness, music and ‘juerga’. Its inhabitants and visitors are dyed in red and white, and from the txupinazo starting rocket, thousands invade the old city, and each morning brave, hardy or ‘happy’ souls test themselves in the Running of the Bulls.
