The highlight being ‘La bandera de La Concha’ in Donostia – San Sebastian in September.
One of the most recognised Basque sports is Pelota in all its incarnations; cesta punta, pala and three-quarters. Gambling takes place on the touchline and the characters involved are often just as fascinating as the game itself, all-in-all a spectacle in a frontón.
Other rural sports include; wood chopping, stone lifting, Ox pulling, scything, hay bale throwing, ram butting, dynamite hole drilling. We’ll show you them all, even the crazy ones.
