There are no words to describe the experience in Spain…but I will try. IT. WAS. FABULOUS! I am so glad you “talked” me into joining this tour in June when I visited The Wine Steward for one of my many Saturday tastings. What a great trip!! So many great memories with a great group. My wife and I participated in an incredible week-long wine-and-culinary tour (sponsored by the WineNot Boutique in New Hampshire) that began in Bilbao and ended in Barcelona. The food was fabulous, the wine was exquisite, and Erik (who reminds me of a young Robin Williams, not only with his looks but with his quick wit and passion for his work) made this trip over-the-top unforgettable. The depth and breadth of his knowledge for the places we visited, the wines we drank, and the foods we ate was extraordinary. His resolution of the hiccups experienced along our route was seamless when things didn’t go exactly as planned. You see, our group of 13 tended to linger at the restaurants and bodegas a bit too long and we put ourselves behind schedule on several occasions because we were having such a fabulous time every place we visited! If you’re planning a trip to the Basque Country, do yourself a favor and book a few hours, if not an entire week, with Erik and Basque Experiences. You most certainly will not regret it.

We asked for a day of hiking, to see places off the beaten path and to eat where the locals eat. This tour was exactly what the doctor ordered!!!…..and then some! Erik, your knowledgable guidance was superb and made us very welcome to your country of which you are very proud. Can’t wait to come back again for another tour.

Great day at the Cider house, a real nugget that we would never have found without Basque Experiences. We were the only tourists there and were amazed at the whole day. The range of ciders, the salt cod dishes and then the massive Beef rib on the bone steaks were all superb. The whole weekend was arranged, a fantastic break for us over the Easter holiday. We got to the airport and were picked up in a massive Mercedes which was 15 euros cheaper that the cab we got on the way back (and much more luxurious!) the hotel was great and we were greeted by a bottle of Cava sitting in an ice bucket. If your looking for a holiday anywhere in the Basque Country, and want to get a really authentic taste of the place then contact the Basque Experiences guys, they will ensure a holiday that you would never get from a mainstream operator. We’ll be back later in the year, for another long weekend for sure!

Thanks to Basque Experiences for a wonderful day. I enjoyed the educational aspect of the visit and what fantastic scenery. Truly a special place that I doubt I ever would of found on my own. The bottle of wine that I purchased is already gone, everyone really liked it. Next time I will have to get some cheese too.
